Hi Sabrina, Just to let you know that we all had a really great time in Sofia. The hotel and mini van pickups were excellent. The hotel was quiet and comfortable with good service and tasty breakfasts, that we all enjoyed. Sofia is full of history and culture and being outside the euro zone made eating and drinking very affordable. So tons to see and do. Everyone was very surprised at how lovely the city and surrounding countryside are and how nice and friendly the local people are! And very safe for walking around, even at night. Mr C – London I booked a back to back cruise through Atlantis and unfortunately had to cancel when I fell ill close to sailing. Unfortunately, I was having complications with my insurance company and Atlantis liaised closely with my wife and worked magic. They managed to get by money back on one cruise due to their close relationship with the cruise line and assisted with us with our insurance company to obtain the refund on the other.

Mr H – Having recently debarked from a Silversea cruise sailing to Asia, we cannot praise Atlantis enough for changing and securing our flights home when all around us passengers were not able to find availability and suitable classes on flights. Atlantis literally worked all weekend following out whereabouts and tracking where the cruise would end up. Finally we debarked in Bangkok and Atlantis secured a flight back within 1 hour of debarking – no extra charges or stress at all! Thank you so much.

We have just returned from our holiday in California and Maine which was organised by Sabrina last year. My daughter and I have just returned from an Atlantis organised adventure to Svalbard in the North Arctic Ocean. Having done our research we went in mid June for the best opportunities to see our prime objective, the Polar Bear. Following an overnight stop in Oslo we caught a flight north to Longyearbyen, Svalbard, where we boarded our ship, an ice breaker called “The M/S Expedition” which accommodated some 100 guests together with their 70 crew and expedition support teams. From Longyearbyen we headed north into the midnight sun searching the horizon 24/7 looking for the elusive polar bear. It took 3 days and nights before we spotted our first bear. It was 1.30am in the morning at 80.6 degrees north, 90 miles from the nearest land or the edge of the pack ice. This amazing predator was hunting seals and we had the privilege of watching. Thankfully from a safe distance and from the security of our ship. With only an estimated 3,000 left in the wild this was very special, we went on to see two more of during the remainder of the week. As dangerous as they are, at 400kg and 3m tall, covering 100m in 6.5 seconds, you just have to admire them. On the occasions we went ashore in zodiacs a scout party, armed with rifles, always had to go ahead first to ensure no polar bears were in the area. In addition to the polar bears we were lucky enough to see a number of whales and even on one occasion a rare blue whale, the largest living mammal on the planet at around 50m. Reindeer and a herd of walrus which were all sighted and photographed from a safe and respectful distance. The trip wasn’t without fun as well, the evening entertainment in the bar was always good with both guests and crew joining in with a dance and a good sing along with Adam the resident musician on the piano. More fun awaited us on the day they suggested we do a polar plunge at 80 degrees north !, not being one to refuse a challenge my daughter and I both went for it!, with water at 1 deg C believe me it was a very quick dip, in and out ! On the occasions when we were not ashore or on wildlife watch we had lectures to capture the imagination on many topics, wildlife, photography, the arctic history and geology. Hello Carol, We’re back! We had a really fantastic holiday and everything went so smoothly and without a single hitch. Please pass on our thanks to the Japanese travel company. Everything was as they wrote in our itinerary, directions to places were spot on, and the tempura restaurant was superb. But I do have done feedback for you – as always…. I hope you find it useful. The first hotel in Tokyo, the Park Hotel, was a nice hotel, with nice views, a good sized room, and nice breakfast. Nothing special, but nice. Toiletries were lovely, staff were friendly and it felt slightly boutique-y even though it was quite a big hotel. We took the recommended train to Hakone, but given the strict 3:00 check-in time for the hotel there it may have been better to have got a later train and have a more leisurely breakfast at the hotel in a Tokyo and check out later. One for the tour company. We arrived at the hotel at around midday and were politely shown the door and told to come back at 3:00. No real problem but we were in “travel” mode with stuff packed away in suitcases so not really geared up for a day out. But once we were allowed in, the hotel in Hakone was a real treat. The dinner menu was amazing, and on the second evening they even produced an English translation of the menu, as pretty as the Japanese menu they prepared each day. The baths and hot rocks and Japanese rooms and clothes made this place feel so calm and relaxed. The hotel in Kyoto was also a joy. Mume is in a very pretty little Kyoto townhouse, very close to the old Gion streets, yet far enough away to be relaxing. The staff were completely bonkers, very lovely but slightly over attentive, which Simon and I found very entertaining, but reading some of the reviews of the hotel on TripAdvisor it seems to have annoyed many people. There are only 7 rooms so I guess the staff can afford to spend time chatting too long to everyone! The room was lovely and the hospitality was second to none. But because you had to ring the doorbell to get into the hotel, you always had to have an exchange with a member of staff who would quiz you on what you had done that day and what you were planning to do next, with the intention of being helpful but it was exhausting! And then they would draw you into the lounge for drinks – which were all complimentary! Bizarre but in a lovely bonkers way. The travel instructions to Hiroshima were very easy to follow, no problems at all. We didn’t like the second hotel in Tokyo, it was just as big, anonymous and bland a business hotel as I had feared it would be. The view from the room was very nice but it isn’t enough to make recommend it to anyone. The facilities in the room were really basic, the bathroom toiletries were really basic and it was a slight disappointment after the loveliness of Hakone and Kyoto. I didn’t really like it at all. It’s purely functional, which is all you need in Tokyo really because you are out and about all day, but it just didn’t have the relaxed vibe when you came back in at the end of a long day in Tokyo’s buzz. But maybe we were just in a negative frame of mind because it was our last stop and we were depressed about ending our lovely holiday. Thanks again for another super holiday. Jaspreet

Dear Sabrina This is to let you know that our trip went off very well and we had a really great time. The flights were excellent. We liked the Marina Mandarin hotel in Singapore very much. There are good dining facilities on site. There is a huge outdoor pool which we didn’t actually get in but it looks very good. The excursions in Singapore (City Tour and Footsteps of Raffles) were very interesting and enjoyable. The two hotels we used in Sydney were both first class as is to be expected. The Four Seasons is slightly more accessible from George Street than is the Shangri-La which although almost next door to the Four Seasons is up a short but steep hill. Otherwise there is nothing to choose between them. The Four Seasons aranged repair of one of our suitcases which lost a wheel on the flight to Singapore. We attended a concert (Vladimir Ashkenazi) at the Sydney Opera House. The Blue Mountains Wildlife excursion was great and we thoroughly recommend this. The Peninsula Hotel in Port Douglas is excellent. It is quite different from the two big city hotels we stayed at in Sydney as it is in the tropics and by the beach and is very good indeed. It is called a “Boutique” hotel. We are not quite clear what that is, but it probably means small specialised and up-market. This really applies to the whole town! We ate in the excellent hotel restaurant on some nights. The restaurant is not open on Saturday night but this doesn’t matter at all as there are several very good restaurants in Port Douglas within easy walking distance of the Peninsula hotel.(booking may be advisable especially on Friday evening). We went on the two trips you booked (Cape Tribulation/Daintree and Quicksilver to Agincourt Reef) and these were excellent. Janet managed to get some snorkelling in at the Reef. Ok, I am sure you will get emails from the girls, so mine will be short and sweet….. I can’t say thanks enough for the wonderful trip and all the work. Here are a few of my notes. I am sure Julie will send you hers. Just want you to have a quick sampling. Luggage on small plane – Regular rollies fine. Tinstwalo – wonderful. Clean. Gorgeous. Posh rooms. Fab staff. Maids even ran baths and put rose petals in it one night ! Very secluded and when out on safari it was like having an entire reserve to ourselves, We never had another jeep near us! We then heard stories that sometimes they are lined up like Disney and you have to wait your turn to see animals. We literally would follow a lion for two hours with no one around. Unreal ! We were luckly and literally told the guides what we wanted to see that day, and he took us to them as if it was no big deal. Group before us though said they didn’t have much luck. We might have loved this place mostly though bc we felt like we owned it with barely another soul there. Cape Royale Hotel – Just ok. Decent rooms, but didn’t like the service. Not overly impressed. Bushmans Kloof – It was gorgeous. Relaxing. Great service. Great food. My suggestion though is to book spa treatments in advance. We got there and just picked what was left. Groups that got there behind us had no chance. Great SPA! Infinity pools. Heated pool. Even with other people around, we barely ever saw them. Ok ladies, that’s it. Hi Julieann, Just emailing my beloved sons and thought I would let you know that we are having a great time so far in Argentina. The hotel choice in Buenos Aires was perfect..we would never stay anywhere else. Classic building, contemporary interior…fab! The Estancia was wonderful in other ways….all the staff were outside to greet us when we arrived and the quality of service did not change from that point. I did some horse riding, walking, farm activities. Nigel spent a day shooting organised by an x-polo player….will show you his photo when poss….did not disappoint! Now in Mendoza…weather hot. Dear Ruth, Azamara Quest Athens to Civitavecchia. My wife and I returned home last night and we both agreed that it was a very enjoyable cruise. The Sky Suite was very good, large enough, on a high deck. Hardly any engine vibrations at all when sailing, near the pool and cafes, good view. Well recommended. Crew (Greek, Israeli, S.American, mixed). Very polite, very helpful, ran the trip in a very professional manner. I took a Bridge Tour on the last day which was most informative and very enjoyable. Food: The windows cafe, open for breakfast (excellent) , lunch (very good) and dinner was always very professional and we enjoyed the food there at all times. The main dining room “Discoveries” was good, well run, the large choice of food was wide ranging and well cooked and very variable. If you wanted something special, you could have it next day. Two speciality restaurants (Prime C and Aqualina) were very well run with very good food. It costs another $10 for two but it is well worth it. Pool area was well run, small pool but very clean with showers and plenty of towels. Punctuality was excellernt at every stop and the tenders were exceedingly well crewed. We enjoyed the smaller size of the boat (690 passengers) which meant no lines for embarking and disembarking, and no queues for the tenders. Also less crush at dinner time. The “casual” policy for dress was new to us, but we thought it a good idea. It was not abused, and generally everyone was quite smart. We would certainly recommend the Azamara line to friends. Dear Katie, As you are aware, I have used Atlantis Travel on many occasions, and the high level of service and friendly and helpful staff are the reason why have continually returned to use your services. For the benefit of other Atlantis clients, I thought it might be helpful to pass on the knowledge I have acquired about extensions to cruise holidays, either at the start or finish of the holiday. Atlantis, I feel sure would be able to arrange some of the hotels/trips suggested. For any cruise starting or finishing at ISTANBUL, we stayed at a very nice hotel called the Dersaadet [ www.hoteldersaadet.com ] This is a small boutique Ottoman hotel very close to the Blue Mosque. It has lovely views of the sea and a very friendly service. If you only have one ot two nights there, it is worth going to see a Turkish show [ typical Turkish food and drink, song and dance] The hotel will organise it [ They speak very good English] Have a look at the hotel’s Sultan’s suite on the internet for a honeymoon type stay. The hotel is not expensive compared to the likes of the Four Seasons which would be the obvious choice of many agents. For a tale to tell your friends back home, try staying in a luxury cave hotel at Capadoccia, about two hours flight from Istanbul. Here there are about 50 cave complexes that have been converted in hotels. If you look up any internet search engine under ‘ cave hotels turkey’ you should find a large selection. We have stayed at two excellent hotels there, the most recent of which was the Hotel Gamirasu. [ www.gamirasu.com] There is lots to do, the scenery is spectacular, the people very friendly, the food very tasty and good value. Recommend a hot air balloon ride and a visit to ancient cave churches. Most of the hotels in Capadoccia will arrange transport to or from the airport or will arrange car hire. SINGAPORE. Try the Banyan Tree Hotel in Bintan, about 45 minutes away by hydrofoil to this small Indonesian island. This rates as one of the best hotels I have ever stayed at. Lovely views and first class service. Try and book up the spa pool villa. www.banyantree.com COSTA RICA [ Caldera ] Definitely worth a tour. We stayed in some wonderful hotels. Look at Peace Lodge at www.waterfallgardens.com and www.buenavistavillas.net If arriving at San Jose airport and you want to stay at a pretty country hotel just on the outskirts, try www.finca-rblanca.co.cr .We used a very good agent in Costa Rica [ www.costaricaholiday.co.uk ] who organised all the transport and hotels, finishing at Caldera where we joined our Seabourn cruise ship. BANGKOK. I have tried several of the hotels here and would recommend the Peninsula. Most visitors stay at a beach resort like Phuket where there is also a very good Banyan Tree Hotel but it is worth a five day trip to Northern Thailand [ Ching Mai ] and travel around the Golden Triangle. There are many different hillside tribes around here. Each tribe has its unique colourful costume. SOUTHAMPTON. It’s only got about 6 rooms and is about an hours drive from Southampton but if you want a quaint hotel in the New Forest with excellent food and service, try www.thatched-cottage.co.uk I shall try and let you know of other little gems that I come across and would appreciate if other clients did the same. Dear Ruth We returned from our holiday you kindly arranged for us in the Far East and I felt I had to write to you to tell you how we enjoyed the Cruise on the Nautica. We have only just started cruising and to date we have sailed with five lines but none of them were comparable with Oceania Cruise Line and the Nautica in particular. The food was the best we have experienced and the service was excellent. The facilities on board including entertaiment ,shore excursions and general crew / guest relations were very good. The idea of Free Style worked very well on this ship and we welcomed the the arrangement where we could dine at anytime to suit ourselves which enabled us to meet many different people some of whom we have befriended. We were one of the very few couples who had never sailed with Oceania before. We spoke with people that had sailed with the cruise line many times because they enjoyed the service provided and the destinations visited. I do not usually recommend holidays to other people but on this occasion I will make an exception and I would suggest Atlantis Travel put this cruise line to the top of their list. Thanks for all your kind assistance in booking the cruise and all the transfer arrangements between ports, airports and hotels. Incidently, the Holiday Inn Golden Mile was ideally positioned on Kowloon which enabled us to fall out of bed straight into the Nathan Road shopping strip which pleased Frances immensley. Dear Sir/Madam, I have recently returned from a cruise and stay holiday for the Far East/Orient with Princess Cruise Line and arranged by one of your staff Jenna. The trip was excellent with the only slightly dissapointing part being the final 3 days of the trip being a very “chinease hotel” called the Prime Hotel, the hotel itself was was very nice, the only available food was “very chinease”, china style, rather than westernised, and it was almost impossible converse with anyone of the staff as virtually no english was spoken. That said for further reference for yourself, the trip was very good.. What However, was absolutely first class was your staff, having booked online as a surprise birthday present for my husbands 60th, which of course I wanted to be special, the attention and care that was afforded me every step of the way by your young lady Jenna who dealt with virtually everything for me which was exceptional. Even on the ship I emailed upon realising there may be a problem with our transfer from ship in Beijing and her attention was prompt, friendly and reassuring. I felt completely confident in every way in dealing with her. I had never heard of Atlantis Cruising pre this trip, but I will most certainly be using your company again and have already recommended “cruising” friends to do so and try and get Jenna to do the organisation of their trip. This young lady must be a major asset to your company, and having been in our own business all our working life, realise this can be hard to find. I felt therefore I needed to tell your company how well she looked after me and ask you to thank her again sincerely for me. The print off she did “welcoming Mr Yeo aboard the Sapphire Princess for his 60th Birthday ” with the Itinerary etc, to include in his birthday card was novel to begin with, and that level of concienteousness was carried through to arranging Visa’s, pick ups, transfers etc.. and much good advise! well done Jenna. Dear Melvyn, We would like to say, how, our transfers, from our recent cruise, on the Seabourn Spirit was excellent by the company involved. From Athens to the ship in particularly in Alexandria, a young man met us from the ship, with a car and a driver took us to Cairo. He then met us, the next morning , at 5:30am to go to the airport. He escorted us, all the way through check in, passport control (which was wonderful) right through 4 searchs and into the departure lounge. What a diamond!
