Where’s hot in October?

Provence, France

Temperature: 20°C high; 12°C low

Season: Autumn

A French fantasy conjured into a reality, Provence may feel like a summer daze with its pastoral landscapes, hilltop villages, legendary wines and bustling markets but its more then that. It’s the perfect Epicurean escape, even in October. Escape the summer month crowds and revel in the rustic good life with a perfectly aged red sitting comfortably in your hand. For food, tranquility and scenery; this quaint hotspot with vistas of lapping hills and fragrant lavender may be calling your name. October here is renowned for being deeply delicious, its autumn is the season of wine and truffles and food festival galore. Slow-paced villages are transformed to tempting markets heaped with harvest goods. Vineyards glowing a vibrant ochre and morning mists blanketing the glades of Luberon at dawn, it’s the perfect climate for country walk and peaceful bike rides with weather still being largely warm And dry- what more could you ask for.

Mauritius, Indian Ocean

Season: Winter

Mauritius? Paradise? It’s all one of the same. With sugary beaches swept up by waves lulling you into a peaceful slumber whilst the heartwarming springtime sun graces you. Not yet humid or rainy, springtime in Mauritius is a tranquil dream with Indian Ocean-sized flowers in full bloom bursting with sweet scents of fauna and a backtrack of animal hoots chatting amongst themselves within emerald rainforests. A picture perfect advert for a tropical escape, Mauritius definitely have the luxury dappled resorts to match it. An abundance of wildlife and adventurous on land and sea deep adventures, it’s the perfect place to whisk off to with your loved ones this October.  

Rome, Italy

Temperature: 22°C high; 12°C low

Season: Autumn

Just a stones throw away, Rome is an ideal weekend break this October. Come rain or shine wandering this historic hotspot is simply chefs kisses. With the sun loving crowds dispersed and back to the every day hustle and bustle of day to day life, October in Rome beckons with the last dredges of summer sun hanging on, it’s a quaint escape offering magical late-summer sunset and Trevi fountain galore as tourists are a distant memory. With June, July and August paired with sweltering heat, October is the ideal temperature to soak up some rays and explore ancient ruins, or sip cocktails on balconies adorned with one of a kind views. Whatever your heart desires, Rome holds Italian charm in bucket loads.

The Philippines

A paradise feeding all eager travellers fantasies, whether their seeking a blissful escape or adventurous exploration, the Philippines will be a pleasant surprise. After just escaping their rainey season October makes this jigsaw puzzle of islands the perfect hideaway. Renowned for its ongoing emerald rice fields, smoldering volcanoes and translucent waters reflecting the cloudless sky above. Renowned for its underwater world, explore wrecks and diving sights teaming with remarkable biodiversity. October will allow you to truly revel in its powdered beaches and Filipino cuisine as you deep dive into culture at the source. There’s no better way to enjoy vibrant ube (purple yam) ice cream or Lechon (roast suckling pig) then in the warm evening sun.

New Mexico

Temperature: 23°C high; 7°C low

Season: Autumn

With explosions of colour gliding blissfully through the sky, a rainbow follows you everywhere you go in October in New Mexico, thanks to Albuquerque and its eye-popping International Balloon Fiesta. Paired with epic sunrises the breathtaking back drop of the Sangre de Cristo mountains it truly is a spectacle. These technicolor hot air balloons peacefully float above civilization leaving behind a mix of Spanish colonial architecture and neutral toned historic adobe neighborhoods, these earth coloured havens juxtaposing the vivid skyline. It’s considered the most photographed event on Earth, and its just a bonus that it happens amongst the buzzy atmosphere of New Mexico, known for its enchantment, a trip here promises natural beauty scattered across its mountainous bounty and fanciful restaurants.

Sicily, Italy

Season: Autumn

A tantalizing cocktail of culture hibernates in the warm confines of Sicily, nestled in the Mediterranean between Italy’s south coast and Africa’s north, it allows an intriguing mix of food, architecture and culture. This glittering coastline is the perfect October escape, with temperatures still in the idyllic 20s, it will feel as if your very own slice of summer. Smoking volcanoes bubble away behind rustic cities, all of which are flaked in faded grandeur. As it’s the largest island in the Mediterranean, reams of natural beauty and stylish hotels are promised. It’s also highly renowned for its foodie scene, restaurants plate up century old delicacies or vibrant new flavours; all using extraordinary ingredients grown in the islands volcanic soil.

Las Vegas, USA

Temperature: 28°C high; 13°C low

Season: Autumn

With our very own Katie Worth visiting the Las Vegas strip last year with her family, we consider ourselves strong advocates for ‘Sin City’. With neon excitement and endless iconic landmarks, it’s as if a different planet entirely. Dropped out of the sky and hugged by the Nevada desert, Las Vegas still holds them scorching temperatures that we so desperately crave when entering the winter months. Everything has a life of its own at this hotspot, come back rejuvenated and with memories of a life time.
