Probably the most visually stunning of all the islands, St Lucia rises out of the Caribbean sea with its own famous landmark of the Pitons; the twin peaks that rise up to two thousand feet above sea level and if you're feeling adventurous you can even climb them. A romantic island, the transfer from the airport in the south to the north of the island where most of the hotels are to be found, is to find oneself taken through a verdant fairyland of lush rainforest on winding roads. Then on leaving the rainforest behind, discover the gold beaches and pretty blue coves of the north. The Friday night jump-up with street food sellers, music & dancing is a must do.
